Does it worth your time?

Metro Exodus has a few major differences from the other Metro games. You are in a more open world, with a moving hub and less horror focused theme. There is more action, more locations to discover and more story, if you care about that. Overall, I think the Metro games are the next better than the one before and Exodus is a very solid first person action game, with a little horror, a little action and just enough variety to not lose its familiarity.

The achievements are just like every other Metro game. There are killing specific, chapter specific, some require a combination of actions to unlock, resources to be spent, weapons to be crafted and of course collectibles. What will propably annoy you the most is completing the game without the mid chapter checkpoints and without quick-saving. It's not that the game is hard, but there are factors you cannot control, such as the game crashes, your PC freezes, the NPC is stuck and the mission is not progressing, will make that achievement an annoyance.

First Playthrough

For the first playthrough I recommend going for the "Good" ending. That means going for the stealth approach and avoid killing human enemies during the main mission. Choose a difficulty option that feels comfortable to you. The game overall is not that hard and if you previously played any of the other Metro games, then this will feel very familiar.

If you utilize the binoculars mechanic and visit all the places on the map then you will never run out of crafting materials. You will unlock all the story achievements: Exodus Complete the MOSCOW level. , Aurora Name the locomotive. , Regatta Get into a boat. , Railwayman Get into the Trolley. , Long distance passenger Find the passenger train car. , Lower the Bridge Complete the VOLGA level. , Spoiled dinner Complete the YAMANTAU level. , Complete road map Find maps in the laboratory. , New order Complete the CASPIAN level. , Gor'ko! Attend the wedding on the SUMMER level. , Sword of Damocles Complete the TAIGA level. and Putrification Pass the putrid tunnel. . Driving the first car you encounter will earn you Driver Drive the Bukhanka. and it is missable. There is a side quest you can do for your crew members for Friend of the Crew Find the guitar and teddy bear on the VOLGA level. .

By playing non lethal in this playthrough you will earn Duke Duke survives. , Damir Damir stays with crew. , Alyosha Alyosha doesn't get wounded. , Forest child Complete the TAIGA level without attacking anyone or getting noticed. , Guide Pass the Research Facility without killing a Blind One on the DEAD CITY level. , Full Strength Duke and Damir stay with the crew, Alyosha doesn't get wounded. and Your Destination Assume command of the Order. .

Second Playthrough

For the second playthrough you can start a New Game or a New Game Plus. In the New Game Plus, any collectibles and modifications you found, will carry on the next playthrough. Although, if you haven't unlocked Dressed for Success Find all upgrades for Artyom's suit. , I recommend skipping the New Game Plus, since it needs a fresh playthrough and you have to collect eveything in this playthrough anyway. You want to go for the "Bad" ending, which means taking the lethal approach, kill everyone and make "unethical" choices. Choose an easy difficulty level, also reload saves and chapters to do the chapter specific achievements and farm any kills if necessary.

The achievement that needs special attention is Professional Make at least one kill with every ranged weapon. for making a kill with every weapon. Install a modification of each category on a single weapon for Gunsmith Install a modification of each category on a single weapon. . Spend 500 chemical resources on cleaning weapons for Tidyman Spend 500 chemical resources on cleaning weapons. , spend 500 consumable resources on crafting for Handyman Spend 500 consumable resources on crafting. and find all upgrades for Artyom's suit for Dressed for Success Find all upgrades for Artyom's suit. .

There are killing a number of enemies achievements: Antibiotic Kill 300 mutants. for mutants, Righteous vengeance Kill 90 cannibals. for cannibals, Firebird Kill a demon with fire. for killing a demon with fire, Headhunter Kill 300 human enemies. for humans, Stand back Kill 50 enemies at long distance. for long distance and Saboteur Melee-kill or stun 50 enemies. for melee. Weapon specific are Silent marksman Kill 30 enemies with Tikhar. for Tikhar, Robin Hood Kill 30 enemies with Crossbow. for the crossbow and Carmaheddon Make 50 kills with the Bukhanka. for the car. Kill 3 enemies using sniper scope while wearing the Gas mask and using the Night Vision goggles for Kaleidoscope Kill 3 enemies using sniper scope while wearing the Gas mask and using the Night Vision goggles. .

For the gasmask there are Martian Patch the Gasmask. and Last Breath After running out of filters in a hazard zone, craft a new one while suffocating. .

The chapter specific achievements are Fisherman Kill the Catfish. , Roller coaster Use the bucket lift on the CASPIAN level to reach the Oasis. , Master of the Forest Stand your ground against the Bear at the first encounter. , 5 o'clock Take part in the Admiral's tea party on the TAIGA level. , Join us on air Find a tune on the radio. , Decommunization Destroy the biggest statue in front of the children's camp on the TAIGA level. and Brakeman Detach all train cars on the MOSCOW level. .

Collecting all the diary pages and all the post cards with unlock Librarian Find all 70 hidden Diary pages. and Old world pictures Find all 21 post cards. . Finally completing this playthrough you will unlock Eternal Voyage Save Anna by paying the ultimate price. .

Third Playthrough

For the final playthrough, choose New Game Plus, the Iron Mode modification and the Ranger Hardcore difficulty. The only achievement you want to focus now is Toy seller Find 3 toys in New Game+ mode: teddy bear, sun and fish. , which is a NG+ specific achievement. Completing this playthrough will earn you Hardcore Complete the game in Ranger Hardcore mode. , Mutation Complete the game in New Game+ mode using any modification. and Iron Mode Complete the game in Iron Mode. .

DLC: the two colonels

There are eight total achievements and they require at least normal difficulty. I do not recommend a blind playthrough, because there is no chapter select and if you miss an achievement you have to play it from the start. It is more than a couple hours long and there is plenty of dialogue that is unskippable.

Four achievements are story related and unmissable: New Year Celebrated the New Year in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter. , Duty and conscience Make a moral choice in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter. , Father and son Provide guidance for Kirill in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter. and Real Colonel Complete THE TWO COLONELS Chapter. .

Collect all the diary pages for The whole picture Find all 9 hidden Diary pages in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter. and finish the DLC without using medkits for It's just a scratch Complete THE TWO COLONELS Chapter without using any Medkits on Normal or higher difficulty. .

Finally Mind you, it's quite heavy! Kill 3 Nosalises with flamethrower's melee attack in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter. and Dodge master Dodge all of the Blind One's throwing attacks in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter. are chapter specific and require certain actions.

DLC: sam's story

Similar with The Two Colonels DLC, there are eight total achievements and they require normal difficulty. There is no chapter select and you have to replay the whole DLC if you miss an achievement.
